Favourably impressed with Azamara Cruises during our first cruise in 2022, Andrew & I booked this cruise while on board Azamara Quest largely for the added benefits of booking on board. At that time, the expectation was that we might wish to postpone this one to 2024 but in the event, we decided, "What the hell; we may as well do it in 2023 anyway!"

However, while war in Ukraine still rumbled on into its second year and just two weeks before we were about to depart, war erupted again between Israel and the Palestinians following an atrocity perpetrated by Palestinian terrorists from Gaza on the weekend of 7th/8th October 2023, resulting in the inevitable announcement cancelling all stops in Israel. In our case, the southern port of Eilat was exchanged for Sharm-el-Sheikh and an additional stop in Salalah, Oman on the way to Muscat.
