The proposed new Explora I (2023: 63,900grt)

MSC Cruises' large fleet of mega-cruise ships would not normally be our 'cup of tea' but they announced in 2021 that they would be launching a new luxury brand called Explora Journeys, with smaller ships and fewer passengers. The first of their new ships Explora I and Explora II would be built in Italy and would debut in 2023 and 2024. At 63,900grt but carrying only 922 "discerning travellers", the initial designs were attractive, spacious and competitively priced; so Andrew & I booked before anyone knew what this new 'product' or its new ships would actually be like....
