Our near disaster aboard Viking Sky off the coast of Norway in March 2019 not only resulted in a full refund and a future cruise credit (which we used towards our South America cruise in 2020) but it also gave us a special invitation from Torstein Hagen, the Chairman of Viking Cruises, to come on this inaugural cruise - in truth, a "shakedown cruise" before the main public itineraries begin.

Sadly, in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020, this trip was cancelled - but we were promised that something else would be offered, when circumstances permitted. In the event, the offer came in February 2022 in the form of an inaugural sailing on the new Viking Mars in May 2022 >> but because Andrew, Angie & I had already booked a holiday in Bermuda with other friends, only Wendy ended up able to go!
