Expedition-style cruising has become more popular in recent years and being something of an 'outdoor adventure' type, Angie chose this trip aboard Viking's newest ship and its first venture into luxury expedition cruising.

At 30,150grt and just 378 passenger, their two new ships, Viking Polaris and Viking Octantis will be smaller than their main ocean-going ships but just as luxurious and built to Polar-class 6 standards, with ice-strengthened hulls, expedition gear and a built-in dock for launching its own long-range rigid inflatable landing craft.
