We booked this cruise while on board Viking Jupiter in 2026, along with new friends Linda and David, only to be quickly joined by our other friends Angie and Fran. It was clearly a popular itinerary and the ship hadn't even been built yet! However, barely 3 months later, Viking re-scheduled everything and changed our date from September to July - and reversed the itinerary!

Viking Lyra is the latest of the line's slightly larger ships, with up to 998 passengers compared to 930 for the earlier ships in the fleet. This 'new breed' of Viking ships, however, are designed with hydrogen power-cell, zero-emission technology, for operation in areas of the world where stricter environmental controls are required.
