Thursday 4th October 2012 At around 7.45pm, one of the ship's tenders ran aground on rocks between Bar and Sheep Porcupine Islands en-route back to the ship with 93 passengers, breaching its hull in two places and becoming wedged. The incident happened after dark at low tide, in rainy conditions and poor visibility. While there was no risk of sinking and none of the passengers were injured, it took 20 minutes to evacuate them from the stricken tender with the aid of a local whale-watch boat.

When the tide turned about an hour later, it was then possible to recover the tender and return it to the ship. However, subsequent press reports locally quoted the US Coast Guard as saying that ships using Anchorage B were regularly in the habit of using this channel for tendering but that they (the US Coast Guard) did not consider it navigable and preferred that tenders use the longer route in and out of the harbour via the main channel.
