Our earlier trip on Queen Elizabeth in April having been cancelled, Cunard eventually announced their long-awaited return to cruising but they began cautiously, with a few scenic British Isles cruises
and three 'seacation' voyages "to wherever the sun shines".
Once again, we opted for a 'Queens Grill Suite' - but we had no idea where we would be going, although in just 7 days, we knew it wouldn't be too far from home! In the event,
the ship headed south and spent four days wandering the Bay of Biscay seeking (with reasonable success) the best of the weather. There was even a mid-voyage diversion for a helicopter evacuation off La Rochelle for an ill passenger!
We did actually find some sunshine, enjoying the exclusive top-deck and although there were no ports to visit, we had a week of excellent food and attentive service in the restaurant,
two formal nights (covid-style) and plenty of 'Captain's Coffees' in the Commodore Club!
I also enjoyed an early morning swim in one of the outside pools on most mornings and even had seaweed-wrap and massage in the spa!
