This would have been my first cruise with Holland America, except that having booked, I then had the chance of Koningsdam in April. Even so, it would be the first time for the others and a return to a ship Andrew & I knew only too well from 1992 & 1996 as the 5-star plus Royal Viking Sun, the highest-rated ship in the world at the time. These days however, for Holland America Line and with only 835 passengers, she has established herself a new reputation as the line's "Elegant Explorer".

Given the deteriorating political situation in Turkey throughout 2015/16, it came as no surprise when, 7 weeks prior to departure, the Turkish ports of Marmaris and Kusadasi were replaced with the safer Greek islands of Rhodes and Santorini. See Revised Itinerary >>
