Our first voyage with Oceania Cruises was in 2022 on Riviera and we were very impressed with the cuisine but felt that
some aspects of the ship herself were a little tired. However, we learned that she was going for refit shortly afterwards and he sister
Marina was also being refitted in April/May 2024, so we expect her to be in good shape for this, our first 'Around British Isles' cruise!
Things didn't get off to a good start, however. Early on, they cancelled Holyhead in favour of Liverpool, dropping Wales
off the itinerary entirely! Fortunately, we took advantage of the change to arrange to see friends Juliet and Dan in Liverpool. Then, 12 days before
we were due to go, Oceania cancelled Dun Laoghaire (for Dublin) in favour of Greenock (for Glasgow), which did not suit Angie!
Luckily, there was still Cobh on the itinerary, so the Republic of Ireland was still included in our 'British Isles' but no explanation or reason was
given for either of the changes. See the original itinerary here: Original Itinerary >>
Needless to say, Oceania was much quicker to take the extra money for the new excursion I booked than it was to refund the money already paid for the
cancelled excursions in Dublin! Nevertheless, the cruise was a great success. The weather, especially in Scotland, turned out much better than expected, service on board
was excellent and Oceania's cuisine was pretty damn good!
