The last time Andrew & I travelled with luxury cruise line Crystal Cruises, it was in 2000 aboard their first ship Crystal Harmony. Much has occurred in the intervening years,
not least the sale of the line by its Japanese founders NYK to Genting Hong Kong in 2015 and the ultimate bankruptcy of Genting as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
However, luxury travel company Abercombie and Kent came to the rescue, purchasing the Crystal Cruises brand in 2022 along with their two remaining ships, Crystal Serenity
(built in 2003) and Crystal Symphony built in 1995, with the stated aim of returning Crystal Cruises to the top of the luxury list of cruise lines. Although the latter ship is relatively old compared to most
of the competition, she has been well maintained and her new owners have carried out a major refit, increasing the number of larger suites and dining venues available and reducing the ship's passenger capacity from
950 to just 606. This being our second attempt to visit Greenland, our return to Crystal Cruises after 27 years should prove most interesting.
